We are currently casting for Finding Jose, a bilingual feature film shooting in the U.S. and Mexico, directed by Lisset Mendoza.

ABOUT THE FILM

Finding Jose is a bilingual road trip comedy-drama about three siblings who embark on a journey to fulfill their father’s final wish — traveling through Mexico to find a secret half-brother they never knew existed. What begins as a simple mission unfolds into a journey filled with humor, tension, and long-overdue healing as they reconnect with their roots, their family, and themselves.

CASTING REQUIREMENTS

  • Looking for Latino/a/x talent

  • Spanish & English preferred (fluency not required)

  • Lead roles must be able to travel to Mexico (valid passport required)

  • Approx. 3-week filming commitment for leads - Final choice August

  • All experience levels welcome (no prior acting experience required)

  • Rate: Paid - Some roles will be compensated. Details will be provided upon selection and will vary depending on the role and scope of involvement. (real talk we're still working on getting funding) 

  • Language: English & Spanish (bilingual preferred for many roles - we love you too No Sabo Kids)

For those without acting experience:
Please submit a self-tape performing a scene of your choice in 2–3 different ways (each take ~30 seconds). Show us your range, personality, and how you interpret a moment.

 

NOTE: Casting decisions will be based on authenticity, performance, and the ability to bring these characters to life truthfully.

Description:
The eldest sibling and the family’s backbone. Maggi is responsible, practical, and always in control. She returns to Mexico after discovering her father had a secret son.

Her journey is about learning to let go of control. As she reconnects with her roots, she begins to rediscover her creativity, vulnerability, and identity beyond responsibility.

Description:
The youngest sibling. An aspiring artist with chaotic energy and a magnetic personality. Lupita is funny, impulsive, and a bit of a troublemaker — using humor and boldness to mask deeper insecurities.

Her journey is about finding her voice. Initially dismissed, she becomes one of the first to uncover key truths and steps into her identity as a storyteller.

Description:

The middle sibling, quiet, observant, and athletic, he’s learned to fit into expectations rather than challenge them. As a gay man, he isn’t fully out to his extended family, keeping parts of himself hidden. Still processing the loss of his father—Kevin retreats inward. When a breakup follows soon after, it adds to the emotional weight he carries as he joins the journey, hoping to reconnect with his father and himself.

His journey is one of quiet transformation — stepping out of the background, embracing his identity, and finally allowing himself to be seen.
